Nick Saban could add another trophy to his case

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Nick Saban has been nominated for another award, but this time, it is for his work on-air.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the nominees for the 46th annual Sports EMMY Awards on Tuesday. On the list was the former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach.

Saban was nominated in the “Outstanding Personality/Emerging On-Air Talent” category for his time on “College GameDay” in the fall of 2024. The Alabama football legend started his career in on-air television following his retirement from coaching the Crimson Tide in January 2024 after 17 years.

“ESPN and College GameDay have played such an important role in the growth of college football, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to join their team,” Saban said in a statement when he announced he would join the “College GameDay” desk. “I’ll do my best to offer additional insights and perspectives to contribute to College GameDay, the ultimate Saturday tradition for college football fans.”

The other people nominated under this category are:

  • Ryan Fitzpatrick, Prime Video
  • Jason Kelce, ESPN/ESPN2/ABC
