Although the big lottery topic is the more than $700 million Mega Millions jackpot that is currently up for grabs, in West Virginia, a $100,000 scratch-off ticket is making headlines. According to the West Virginia Lottery, the winning Jumbo Cash scratcher was sold at the Bear’s Den in Abovale, a remote community near Green Bank in Pocahontas County.
The ticket was purchased by Stephen T. on Sunday, according to the WV Lottery winners page. It won the highest amount possible for the Jumbo Cash game, which has been offered in West Virginia since January. There are still four $100,000 tickets for the game that haven’t been sold yet, according to the WV Lottery website. The odds of winning at least your money back on the $20 ticket are 1 in 3.73.
It is the largest lottery prize won in the West Virginia Lottery since a $1 million Powerball ticket was sold near Hedgesville, Berkeley County, at the beginning of September.
