Toby Crouse, a U.S. District Judge, sentenced Randall Lester to 120 months, or 10 years, in federal prison. He previously pleaded guilty to one county of sexual exploitation of a minor – receipt of child pornography.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested Randall on April 25, 2024 at a home on the Kickapoo Reservation following the execution of a search warrant. Randall had previously served as the tribal chairman for the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas.
A federal grand jury indicted Randall in July 2024 for allegedly attacking his spouse on several occasions in 2023 and 2024. Prosecutors later indicted Randall on additional counts in December 2024 for alleged child sex crimes that occurred between February 2020 and June 2022.
Randall pleaded guilty to one of his charges, sexual exploitation of a minor, on May 29 this year. The other associated federal counts were dismissed.
The Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas also declared in January that Randall is to be considered legally dead and banished from the tribe. This came after Randall was sentenced for charges including attempted homicide and attempted arson with the Kickapoo Tribal Court.
