Kansas Crop & Livestock Research Grant Program is accepting applications

KANSAS (KSNT) – The Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA) announced the FY26 Crop & Livestock Research Grant Program is now accepting applications until Nov. 25.

The Crop & Livestock Research Grant Program is a state grant opportunity funded by the State Water Plan Fund. The KDA seeks to fund projects that align with the State Water Plan including:

  • Improving the performance and marketability of drought-tolerant crops.
  • Improving the ability of farmers to target inputs to reduce input requirements, increase effectiveness, and reduce nutrient runoff.
  • Agriculture technology, livestock feed/forage and water efficiency, and crop science innovations that reduce water use, improve water quality, or improve drought resilience.

The program is funded through an appropriation of $450,000 and applicants may request up to $100,000 per project. Each project can be up to two years in duration.

Although the KDA prefers projects with a one-year duration, other projects will be considered with larger impacts. This is a competitive, reimbursement-based grant program, and all applicants will be evaluated based on impact on Kansas agriculture, feasibility and measurable outcomes.

The application period will end at 5 p.m. on Nov. 25, 2025. You can complete the online application by clicking here.
