The organization said it has received an increasing number of calls from families in need of food assistance as the shutdown continues to delay paychecks and strain household budgets.
“We’re hearing from residents every day who are struggling to make ends meet,” BCAA officials said in a statement shared by Elevate DeRidder. “We’re asking our community to come together and help fill the pantry so we can support those most affected.”
BCAA is accepting both food and monetary donations to stock the pantry. Donations can be dropped off at the organization’s office located at 103 North Washington Street in DeRidder, next to Beauregard Credit in the old Jouban Building.
Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For more information or to make a donation, residents can call 337-463-7895.
