Woman dies after falling onto CTA tracks on Chicago’s Near North Side

CHICAGO (WGN) — A woman died Sunday afternoon after falling onto the train tracks on Chicago’s Near North Side, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred just before 4:30 in the 1500 block of South Sedgwick Street.

The unidentified woman fell onto the tracks and came into contract with the third rail. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall.
