SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Monday will bring some pleasant weather to the ArkLaTex as we wait for the next cold front to arrive on Tuesday.  This front will bring some showers and thunderstorms & then we begin another extended period of dry weather.

Tomorrow’s forecast

Monday temperatures:  Temperatures on Monday will be rather pleasant and a little above normal.  Lows Monday morning will begin in the mid to upper 50s.  Daytime highs on Monday afternoon will be in the middle 70s. Expect similar temperatures on Tuesday ahead of the next front.

Futurecast outlook for the next 48 hours

Monday sun & Tuesday rain:  Futurecast shows that we will see a mix of sunshine and clouds on Monday, with more sunshine during the afternoon.  Expect a partly cloudy sky on Monday night. We will see another mix of sunshine and clouds on Tuesday.  Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will develop mainly over the southeast half of the area on Tuesday afternoon along the cold front.  This rain will quickly exit the area on Tuesday evening, and the clouds will decrease on Tuesday night. SPC doesn’t currently indicate any severe weather risk with Tuesday’s storms, although Futurecast does indicate that a few could be strong.

Rain Potential: Rainfall totals from Tuesday’s storms should be rather limited, with most of the area receiving less than ¼”.  We could see a few scattered locations over the SE half of the area pick up ½ to 1” of rain.

10-day forecast for shreveport

Long-range outlook:  We will see some of the coolest air of the season so far during the middle of this week.  Daytime highs will be in the low to middle 60s. Overnight lows will plummet into the low to middle 40s, with 30s possible over the northern part of the area.  A warming trend will begin late this week as highs will return to the middle 70s and lows will warm back into the 50s.  Once Tuesday’s rain ends, we will likely stay dry through the middle of next week.
