BATON ROUGE, La. (WNTZ) – Louisiana State Police investigated nine fatal crashes statewide between Oct. 20 and Oct. 26, resulting in nine deaths and two injuries, according to the agency’s weekly fatal crash summary released Monday.

Of the victims, three were not wearing seat belts at the time of their crashes.

While all incidents remain under investigation, state police emphasized the continued importance of driver safety and personal responsibility behind the wheel.

“Every life lost on our roadways is more than just a number — it’s someone’s family member, friend, or neighbor,” the agency said in a statement. “Let’s work together to keep Louisiana’s roads safe for everyone.”

Troopers urged motorists to buckle up in every seat, avoid driving while impaired, stay alert to prevent distractions, and maintain safe speeds and following distances appropriate for traffic and weather conditions.

The report is part of Louisiana State Police’s ongoing effort to raise awareness and reduce roadway fatalities across the state.
