The 5-2 (2-1 in district play) Mavericks found an offensive groove with a 56-0 win over Jacksonville after posting just seven points in their previous two games.
They need the offense to keep shining against the 6-1 (3-0) Dragons.
The Mavericks have given up the fewest points in District 7-5A Division II, while the Dragons have scored the second-most points.
With Nacogdoches currently ranked second in the district and Marshall third, the winner will stake a claim to challenge district-leading Texas High Tigers (7-1 overall, 4-0 in district).
A Nacogdoches win solidifies them as the leading challenger to the Tigers. A Marshall win helps the Mavericks keep pace despite losing to the Tigers 14-0 a week before the bounce-back win against Jacksonville.
The Mavericks and Dragons clash at Maverick Field on October 24 at 7:30 p.m.
