TONIGHT: Patchy fog is possible overnight, so be careful on the roadways. Lows will generally be in the low 60s, with a few sneaking down to the upper 50s by sunrise Monday.
MONDAY: After a few areas of morning fog, skies will clear and we’ll have a pleasant afternoon with highs around 80.
LOOKING AHEAD: Tuesday will feature more of the same – highs in the low 80s with afternoon sunshine. Another cold front (a stronger one) will sweep across the area Tuesday night, bringing a chance for rain late. The rain will quickly exit and cooler air will begin to overtake south Louisiana and southwest Mississippi, bringing a real fall feel to the air. Highs on Wednesday – Friday will not even make it out of the 60s, with overnight lows in the low to mid 40s. Have the jackets ready to go by midweek!
TRACKING THE TROPICS:
Hurricane Melissa continues to strengthen and is now a category four. Melissa will likely strengthen to a category five sometime on Monday, before making a landfall in Jamaica. This slow moving major hurricane will bring devastating impacts to Jamaica, as well as Cuba, including multiple feet of rainfall and catastrophic wind damage.
