10 years later, Chalmette homicide remains unsolved

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Oct. 27, 2015, around 7:30 p.m., St. Bernard Parish deputies were called to a shooting scene at the corner of Palmisano Boulevard and Missouri Street.

At the scene, they found two victims. One man was shot in the leg and was trying to perform CPR on the other. That other victim, later identified as Keith Guerra, had been shot in the chest and died at the scene.

10 years later, the murder remains unsolved. It’s the latest case to roll on the Wheel of Justice.

According to deputies, the confrontation began when Guerra’s Chevy Impala was rear ended by a light-colored SUV. After the shooting, the attackers left in the SUV and Guerra’s car.

Shortly after the shooting, police released security camera footage of the SUV that they say was involved. Still, 10 years later, nobody has been brought to justice.

If you can help solve the case, call the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office or CrimeStoppers at 504-822-1111.

So far, more than 485 people have been booked after their cases rolled on the Wheel of Justice.
