Westfield home damaged in fire
According to the Westfield Fire Department, around 10:15 p.m., fire crews responded to a home on Amberleaf Trail for a residential fire.
Upon arrival, crews reported flames through the roof of the home. It took crews nearly an hour to extinguish the blaze and were able to protect neighboring properties from damage as well.
The home, where the fire began, sustained significant fire, smoke, and water damage, but no injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.
Investigators say the homeowners were alerted to the fire by working smoke alarms, which “played a critical role in their evacuation,” WFD said.
Fire crews are reminding resident to regularly check and maintain their smoke alarms.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
