Man dead after near north side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS – An investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed on Indy’s near north side Sunday morning.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, around 4:12 a.m., officers responded to the 3600 block of North Illinois Street on the report of a person shot.

When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult male with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, but later died of his injuries, police said.

No additional information was released. The incident remains under investigation.
