Troy topples Louisiana football, moves Cajuns to 2-6 overall

TROY, La. (KLFY) — The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns suffered their third consecutive Sun Belt Conference loss, falling to Troy 35-23 on Saturday night.

This loss drops the Cajuns to a 2-6 overall record and 1-3 in conference play, leaving them winless on the road for the 2025 season.

The Cajuns struggled to finish drives with touchdowns, which kept them trailing for most of the game.

Quarterback Lunch Winfield completed 11 of 22 passes for 187 yards, throwing one touchdown and two interceptions.

Winfield was also looking to get the offense going on the ground, contributing 139 of the team’s 184 rushing yards.

Walker Howard, returning for a second game from a severe oblique injury, had a difficult outing with his only pass resulting in a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown by the Trojans.

On defense, Courtline Flowers managed to secure an interception in the second quarter, the only takeaway for the Cajuns against Troy, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.

Troy’s offense capitalized on their opportunities, with quarterback Tucker Kilcrease and running back Jordan Lovett each scoring two touchdowns.

With no clear path to the Sun Belt Championship game, the Ragin’ Cajuns will look to regroup as they prepare to face South Alabama on November 1.
