Lafayette Parish to vote on key tax renewals for infrastructure

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Lafayette Parish voters will decide on two parish-wide tax renewals on November 15, which Mayor-President Monique Blanco Boulet said are crucial for maintaining key infrastructure projects.

The city-parish budget currently includes several major infrastructure investments, such as roundabouts at Ridge Road and Rue De Belier, which depend on the funding from these tax renewals. Mayor-President Boulet emphasized the importance of these projects for the parish’s development.

“Several of those projects, we have funding coming from the renewal millages that are coming up for renewal,” Boulet said. “And I just want people to realize what that money goes toward.”

The infrastructure projects outlined in the city-parish budget include improvements at Ridge Road and South Domingue Road, Louisiana 733 and Vincent Road, and a roundabout at Lake Farm and Frem Boustany. Additionally, the Frem Boustany Bridge and Extension is part of the planned developments.

Early voting for these tax renewals runs from November 1 through November 8, and Boulet is actively encouraging residents to participate and vote yes.

“November 1 to November 8, which is Saturday to Saturday, is the early voting period and Election Day is November 15th,” Boulet stated.

The outcome of the vote could significantly impact the continuation of Lafayette’s infrastructure projects, with Boulet urging citizens to come vote and consider tax renewals.
