In the tropics, Hurricane Melissa is a major hurricane and continues to strengthen. It will crawl south of the Jamaican coastline through Tuesday morning before turning northward as a powerful hurricane, potentially a Category 5. This will likely be the strongest hurricane to ever make landfall in Jamaica and will cause destructive winds and flooding rains. From there, it will head northward, impacting eastern Cuba, Haiti, the Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos, and finally Bermuda later in the week.
Locally, we will see quiet weather Monday and most of the day Tuesday. Tuesday afternoon and evening, storms return to the area along a strong cold front that will bring a true taste of fall for the rest of the week. Halloween is shaping up to be beautiful with chilly morning temperatures in the 40s and afternoon temperatures in the 70s with sunshine. Trick-or-treating will be a treat this year for all the little ghouls and goblins!
