CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police announced a recent citywide speed operation made a big impact in two areas known for traffic problems.

CMPD said officers from several divisions teamed up to target drivers along the West Sugar Creek Road and Reagan Drive corridor — and the Plaza and Milton Road corridor.

During the operation, officers made 117 traffic stops, issued 157 charges, and seized a gun.

“Proactive measures like [these] are an excellent example of our steadfast commitment to making the roads in Charlotte a safer place for every driver,” CMPD said in a released statement.
