MONROE COUNTY, Ind. – A fatal crash involving a wrong-way driver closed I-69 in Monroe County Saturday morning.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, the crash happened around 6 a.m. at the 125 marker near the East Sample Road exit. This is just north of Bloomington.
The INDOT alert stated it was a head-on collision and involved a wrong-way driver. Indiana State Police confirmed at least one person died in the crash.
A FOX59/CBS4 news vehicle spotted at least two vehicles involved in the northbound lanes and one was found on its roof, completely burnt.
ISP advised that those attending the UCLA vs. Indiana football game are expected to experience traffic stoppages and delays.
INDOT confirmed all northbound lanes were closed for cleanup. The incident remains under investigation.
