WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (
ABC4) — An 18-year-old man is dead after a drive-by shooting outside a Halloween party in West Valley City early Saturday morning, according to West Valley City Police.
Just before 12:40 a.m. on Oct. 25, officers responded to a shooting on the 4700 block of W Palmer Drive in West Valley City. According to police, a Halloween party was taking place with around two dozen teenagers and young adults in attendance.
During the party, an individual identified as Allen Montelongo, 18, reportedly drove by in a vehicle and fired at a group standing in the road outside of the party, striking a 16-year-old male.
Someone in the group fired back, police said, striking Montelongo as he drove by. Montelongo then crashed into a fence down the street and was pronounced dead on scene.
The 16-year-old male was taken to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. He is reportedly in stable condition and is expected to survive.
All relevant parties to the investigation have been identified, police said. Charges will be screened as appropriate.
“The shooting appears to be targeted with no outstanding threat to the community,” a news release from West Valley City Police states.
