Rockford house fire leaves resident with life-threatening injuries

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A Rockford resident suffered life-threatening injuries in a house fire Friday morning.

According to the Rockford Fire Department, crews were called to a house in the 2700 block of Horton Street at 8:41 a.m. on reports that a person and a dog may still be inside the residence.

A total of 28 firefighters were called to the scene, and began attacking the fire on the 2nd floor.

Officials said the victim was found within minutes and brought outside, before being taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

Animal services was called to take possession of the dog.

Authorities said the fire caused an estimated $30,000 in damages to the house, and the cause is still under investigation.
