BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Bossier Parish will honor local veterans with a centuries-old military tradition during a Veterans Tattoo Ceremony at 10 a.m. Nov. 7 inside the Billy Montgomery Gymnasium at Bossier Parish Community College.

Hosted by District 5 Rep. Dennis Bamburg, Bossier Schools, and BPCC, the free event celebrates the service and sacrifice of veterans across Louisiana.

The military tattoo dates back to the 17th century, when Dutch drummers signaled soldiers to return to barracks — a ritual that evolved into today’s patriotic performances.

This year’s ceremony will feature students from Bossier Schools’ Talented Arts Program, Band, Drum Corps, and Air Force JROTC, along with a simulated enlistment, final roll call, and Taps. Officials from the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs and other dignitaries will also attend.

Organizers say the community is encouraged to join in reflection and gratitude as the nation approaches its 250th birthday.
