According to NOPD, around 7:49 a.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of Jo Ann Place on reports of shots fired in the area.
Responding officers arrived to find a 16-year-old girl and a 20-year-old boy suffering from gunshot wounds. The girl was pronounced dead on the scene, while the man was taken to a hospital where he later died.
NOPD officers report the suspect approached the teen, shot her before turning the gun on himself.
No further details are available at this time. NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release both victims’ identities after an autopsy is done and the families are notified.
