On Saturday around 6:42 p.m., the San Francisco Police Department said Stephen Smith entered a business on the 5300 block of Mission Street and demanded money. Smith pointed an unknown weapon covered by a bag at the employee, according to authorities, before grabbing cash from the register and leaving.
The employee went outside to call 911 when she was again confronted by Smith, SFPD said. The man demanded more money and stole the victim’s cell phone before fleeing in a vehicle.
Responding police officers, coordinating with the Real Time Investigations Center, found Smith’s vehicle on Seventh Street near Mission Street, according to SPFD. Smith was taken into custody without incident and booked into the San Francisco Jail for two counts of robbery and assault.
The victim was not injured during the robberies, police said.
