Free deer tags provided for Arkansas youth deer hunters
Officials said hunters should update their mobile app to download the free youth tags. Youth tags are an option only if logged into the youth’s AGFC account.
Assistant chief of the AGFC’s Information Technology division, Kyle Curry, said getting tags through the app, a dealer or the AGFC website is straightforward.
AGFC officials said that youth must check harvested deer just as adult hunters do. This can be done at the harvest location using either the mobile app, website or by calling 833-289-2469. Anyone unable to check the deer must place a temporary paper tag on the deer with the hunter’s name, ID number, date, harvest time, zone or WMA and harvest method.
Hunters have 12 hours to check a deer after it has been harvested.
Youth hunters must be 6 to 15 years old to participate in the youth hunt. If they have not passed their Hunter Education Course, they must be within arm’s reach of a licensed mentor. If they have passed their Hunter Education Course, they may hunt without a mentor at their parents’ discretion.
