Federal judge denies bond reinstatement for Rudy Warnock
According to court documents, U.S. District Judge Kristi H. Johnson made the decision on October 22, 2025, after the former Madison County engineer sought to be released on his previous bond.
In July 2025, the court revoked Warnock’s bond after authorities said he tried to kill himself. The court determined that Warnock “poses a risk of flight and poses a risk of danger to others and to the community.”
According to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call just before 3:30 p.m. on July 16, 2025, about a crash involving a gray Ford F-150 on Interstate 20 East near mile-marker 72.
The man inside the truck was identified as Warnock. Investigators said he was initially unconscious, and a Good Samaritan helped get him out of the vehicle.
According to investigators, Warnock was found to have made cuts to his wrists and neck. He regained consciousness before being transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson.
Warnock is currently being held at the Forrest County Jail. He was found guilty on multiple counts of bribery and wire fraud during a federal bribery trial. Warnock was charged with bribery and wire fraud that occurred during his time at Canton Municipal Utilities (CMU) after he was fired by Madison County. He worked at CMU from 2016 to 2017.
He was indicted by a federal grand jury in December 2021 on two counts of conspiracy to commit bribery, one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and one count of wire fraud. The indictment was unsealed in November 2022.
Warnock’s sentencing has been scheduled for December 10, 2025.
