Denham Springs man killed in two-vehicle crash in Livingston Parish

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Denham Springs man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Wednesday morning.

State Police say around 11 a.m., troopers were called to Louisiana Highway 16, near Vincent Road, about a crash. Upon arrival, troopers learned that Billy Deloach, 79, was driving a 1997 Ford Ranger, attempting to cross LA 16 to enter a private driveway. At the same time, a 2016 Lexus RX 350 was headed east on LA 16. For unknown reasons, police say Deloach failed to yield to oncoming traffic as he crossed LA 16 and was struck on the passenger side.

Deloach was in critical condition and was taken to a hospital, where he later died of his injuries. It’s unclear if Deloach was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Impairment is not suspected, but a routine toxicology sample was taken for analysis.
