BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Two Baton Rouge men have been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred last week in Maringouin.

According to the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office (IPSO), deputies responded to the Ridgewood Apartment Complex on Oct. 16 after reports of a gunshot victim. When deputies arrived, they found two people suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and immediately began providing aid until paramedics arrived.

IPSO said one of the victims, Derrien Scott, 17, died from his injuries. The second victim, a 19-year-old man, was taken to the hospital and has since been released.

Following an investigation, detectives identified Derion Rogers, 19, and DaQuan Causey, 17, both of Baton Rouge, as suspects.

Rogers and Causey were arrested and booked into the Iberville Parish Jail on charges of second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and armed robbery.
