The study analyzed NFL fanbases against nine unique ‘diehard’ metrics, such as average attendances, ticket costs, team success, and fans braving extreme weather conditions to attend games. Texans fans received an index score of 61.72 out of 100, placing them fourth in the league.
Despite their dedication, Texans fans have only witnessed 31 victories in the last five years, which is the sixth lowest number of wins among NFL teams. Additionally, the team has never reached a Super Bowl, and they have the seventh lowest average points scored per game over the past five years.
In contrast, Dallas Cowboys fans ranked 23rd in the league with an index score of 47.9. Cowboys fans have enjoyed five Super Bowl victories, and their team has the second best points scored per game at 26.8 points, above the NFL average of 22.8.
Interestingly, Texans fans have a higher average gameday attendance than Cowboys fans, with 99.1% of the stadium filled on average last year, compared to the Cowboys’ 93%, which is the second lowest in the league.
Cowboys fans, however, have endured more extreme weather conditions on gamedays, with 10 games played in temperatures exceeding 90 degrees Fahrenheit or below 32 degrees Fahrenheit in the last five years, compared to seven such games for Texans fans.
The average ticket cost to watch the Cowboys in 2025 is $333, higher than the $252 average cost to see the Texans.
