Seasonable weather pattern settles in Wednesday for Charlotte, elevated wildfire risk

CHARLOTTE (PINPOINT WEATHER) — Tracking a warmer morning than what we have seen over the last few mornings. Still cool though, with temperatures starting in the 40s and lower 50s. 

Although we are starting warmer, temperatures will only climb into the upper 60s and lower 70s as the cooler air slowly ushers in behind Tuesday’s cold front.

It will remain breezy on Wednesday, with gusts between 15-25 mph. The combination of gusty winds and drier air will lead to an elevated brush fire over the next few days.

If burning, be sure to use EXTREME caution.

We will be much colder on Wednesday night, with low temperatures dropping into the 30s and lower 40s. Frost is unlikely due to a lack of moisture and breezy conditions overnight. Be sure to bundle up on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. High temperatures in the 60s and 70s, with gusty winds showing up again this afternoon. 

The seasonable pattern will continue through the weekend and into early next week, with high temperatures in the 60s and 70s. Overnight lows will be in the 30s and 40s.

Spotty shower chances are possible Sunday and possibly early next week, but it does not look like beneficial rainfall at this time.

Tropical Storm Melissa is still dancing in the Caribbean Sea, but it will not be a threat to the Carolinas and will likely stay away from all of the U.S.
