The plan outlines how federal funds will be designated towards individual projects, and the city is currently gathering feedback from residents to ensure community needs are met. Once public comments are collected, the city will submit the plans to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for approval.
“We need to have input from the community to direct us on where we’re gonna go with our funding. It’s federal dollars, so it’s important for everyone to have a voice,” said Andrea Hinrichs, housing program manager.
The city is also amending previous plans to reflect changes in how money is being spent. This process requires input from residents to ensure that the adjustments align with community priorities.
Residents can access the community action plan on the City of Rockford’s website and provide their comments until November 13th.
