HEAVY RAIN threat arrives this weekend
Any severe weather? While we will likely see some thunderstorms, the chances of seeing any severe weather issues are looking rather small at this time. IF we have any issues, they will be very isolated and probably limited to next Saturday.
Rain timing: Futurecast shows that a few scattered showers will be possible on Friday. The rain will increase over the western half of the area on Friday night and will likely reach its peak in coverage and intensity during the day on Saturday. The threat of rain will continue on Sunday and could actually last into Monday.
Heavy rain possible! With the severe risk looking very low, our main concern will be the potential for heavy rain. Futurecast shows that most of the area will likely receive at least 2” of rain. The Blend of Models shows heavier totals of two to over 4”. The 4” totals could be possible anywhere in our area. Fortunately, this rain will be spread out over several days, so issues with flooding will be isolated. Even the WPC 7-day outlook shows rain totals of 2 to over 3″ will be likely.
Weather Worry Index 2 out of 10: As of right now, this weekend’s rain could turn out to be more beneficial than worrisome. With the lack of severe weather concerns, I would put my level of worry at 2 out of 10. This number could go up in the coming days if it appears that the severe risk increases. Stay tuned!
