ST. GEORGE, Utah (ABC4) — The former Washington County School District bus driver previously charged with multiple felonies related to child sexual abuse materials has now been federally indicted for child pornography.

Daniel Sterling Workman, 44, was previously charged on a local level with 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, which is a second-degree felony. On October 14, 2025, he was indicted by a federal grand jury for receipt of child pornography.

According to Utah state code, Workman is facing between five and 20 years in prison, if convicted, and that is separate from any potential sentences he will face if convicted on a federal level.

Workman was originally arrested on September 3, 2025, after the St. George Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) team received a tip about an individual downloading child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

The tip was forwarded from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and also alleged that the account had also uploaded more than 100 files of suspected CSAM.

The ICAC team was able to connect IP addresses and a phone number that were associated to the account and found that Daniel Workman was allegedly associated with the IP addresses and the phone number.

A residential search warrant was issued on Workman’s home, where law enforcement recovered multiple electronic devices that will reportedly undergo analysis to see if any additional evidence is present on the devices.

Law enforcement determined that Workman worked as a school bus driver at the Washington County School District, where he was often near children who are the same age range of those depicted on the alleged CSAM.

However, according to School District officials, police have confirmed that none of the alleged charges dealt with children in the community.

Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
