OXFORD, Ala. (WIAT) — The Target store in Oxford is expected to be closed for a few days after it suffered minor fire and water damage Monday.
According to the Oxford Fire Department, a cooler at the store’s front caught fire. Two sprinklers sprayed water and held the fire in check until firefighters arrived. Employees led the store’s evacuation.
The OFD stated it received a call around 12:18 p.m. for a water flow alarm at the location. Calhoun County 911 then upgraded the call to a structure fire call.
The store will be closed while crews remove water and return the sprinkler system to full operational conditions.
