Docs: Winchester dad arrested for brutally beating 8-year-old son

WINCHESTER, Ind. — A Winchester man was arrested after he allegedly brutally attacked his son.

Justin E. Straley, 42, was charged with the following:

  • Battery on a Child Resulting in Bodily Injury, a Level 5 Felony
  • Battery on a Child, a Level 6 Felony

Officers were dispatched on Oct. 7, by the Department of Child Services on a report of physical abuse toward a child.

Authorities learned that the suspect reportedly beat an 8-year-old victim until he had significant bruises.

The victim told police that he had been beat before but this instance was the worst. The child also stated that his dad has been verbally abusive and is “mean.”

According to court documents, Straley allegedly forced his son to the floor and shoved a sandwich in his mouth.
