DUSON, La. (
KLFY) –Joel James Cessac, 42, of Abbeville according to Lafayette Parish Sherriff’s Office was involved in the shooting in the 100 block of Stoneburg Drive.
He is being charged with:
- Obstruction of Justice
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Certain Felonies
Upon arrival, deputies determined Cessac was involved in a physical altercation with the victim. During the physical altercation, Cessac produced a firearm and shot the victim. After shooting the victim, Cessac fled the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital for non-life threating injuries.
Cessac was located in Abbeville, where he was taken into custody.
This investigation remains ongoing and no additional information is being released at this time.
