METAIRIE, La. (WGNO) — Deputies responded to a prank report of an armed suspect at Lakeside Mall Sunday, Oct. 19.
According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, around 1:30 p.m. deputies responded to the mall due to reports of an armed suspect. Investigators found that the report was a prank intended to cause panic and prompt an emergency response. There was no shooting, nor anyone with a gun.

The mall was not evacuated and not placed on any lockdown during the incident. The mall was searched, cleared and remains open.
