BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — October 17, 2025
A 64-year-old woman died Friday after being arrested at Seminary Park on an active warrant and transported to the Monroe County Jail, according to the Bloomington Police Department.
Police said that around 11:25 a.m. on October 17, officers saw the woman in Seminary Park and recognized her as having an outstanding arrest warrant. The warrant was confirmed by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and officers took her into custody without incident before transporting her to the jail.
While in the jail’s sallyport awaiting transfer to jail staff, police said the woman began complaining that she was hot, and her condition appeared to decline rapidly. An ambulance was called for her at 12:07 p.m., but before paramedics arrived, she became unresponsive.
Dispatch was advised at 12:16 p.m. that officers were performing CPR. Police said Narcan was also administered, but attempts to revive the woman were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Monroe County Coroner’s Office was contacted and will determine the cause and manner of death. Police said officers present in the sallyport were wearing body-worn cameras.
The incident remains under investigation, and no further information has been released by the Bloomington Police Department.
