BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The sanity hearing for Gad Black, accused of killing Baton Rouge Police Department Sgt. Caleb Eisworth, has been delayed.

Doctors have requested additional time to review Black’s mental health evaluation, which has postponed the hearing. A final ruling on Gad Black’s competency to stand trial is expected later this year.

Black, 41, was initially charged with attempted first-degree murder, hate crimes, and resisting an officer after his June arrest. Black was taken into custody after allegedly hitting Eisworth on Joor Road near Prescott Road on June 16.
