Man receives life sentence for sexual battery of child in Jackson
JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A Hinds County jury found a 39-year-old man guilty of one count of sexual battery of a child under the age of 14.
On September 8, 2021, Jackson police responded to a disturbance call on Abraham Lincoln Drive. They said the child’s mother reported finding her boyfriend, Jimmie Owens, in her seven-year-old daughter’s bedroom with the child positioned between his legs.
Police said the mother later turned over video evidence. The child was transported to a local hospital.
Owens was arrested and transported to the Jackson Police Department (JPD).
After the guilty verdict, Owens was sentenced to life in prison in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC).
