Gunmen attempt to rob armored truck at Wawa, driver returns fire

PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — Police are investigating an attempted armored truck robbery at a Wawa in Holmesburg.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, just before 8 a.m. Friday, officers responded to the Wawa parking lot on the 7700 block of Frankford Avenue.

Investigators say two armed men attempted to rob a Loomis armored truck driver. The driver, who was armed, shot at the suspects several times. The suspects then ran away.

So far, police have not announced any arrests or reported any injuries.
