Capitol police investigate after 3 injured in separate shootings

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Capitol police are investigating after three people were injured during two separate shootings.

Bailey Martin, spokesperson for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (MDPS), said officers responded to the area of Booker Street just after 1:15 a.m. on October 17, 2025. When officers arrived, they found two people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The victims were transported to a local hospital. No arrest has been made.

Martin said the second shooting occurred just after 1:45 a.m. near Battlefield Park. When officers arrived, they found one person suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
