Five buildings immediately surrounding the area have been evacuated and others are being told to shelter in place, according to SFFD. The fire department is working with PG&E to contain the leak.
SFFD said a construction crew working in the area struck the gas line at 9 a.m. PG&E arrived about half an hour later. No injuries have been reported and none of the buildings have suffered any damages.
KRON4 has a crew en route to the scene now.
