Pearl police detain juvenile over online school threats

PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) – Pearl police announced a juvenile was detained in connection to online posts that were construed as threats against schools.

According to police, the unidentified juvenile was detained on October 16, 2025.

“While there are no active threats at this time, out of an abundance of caution, additional law enforcement resources will be present at our schools. The safety of our children remains our highest priority. I want to commend the outstanding work of our Patrol, FLEX, and CID divisions, and extend a special thanks to the FBI Jackson District for their swift and effective support,” said Pearl Police Chief Nick McLendon.
