According to the Richmond Police Department, Richmond officers executed an arrest warrant around 3:30 p.m. in the area of South 18th and South A streets.
Due to the juvenile’s alleged history of “violent offenses,” authorities contacted the SWAT team. The minor was “taken into custody without incident” and will be sent to a detention facility.
Richmond Police Chief Kyle Weatherly said he commends the work of everyone who worked together to have a “peaceful resolution.”
“This operation was carefully planned and executed with the safety of our officers, the suspect, and the public in mind,” said Weatherly. “I want to commend the SWAT team, our investigators, and all assisting units for their dedication to keeping our community safe. The swift and peaceful resolution of this situation is a testament to their training and professionalism.”
Police confirmed no one was injured during Thursday afternoon’s response.
