Freshman guard Darryn Peterson was the number one overall recruit in the nation, per 247Sports, when he committed to play for the Jayhawks in Nov. 2024.
Kansas men’s basketball head coach Bill Self already likes what he’s seeing from the Ohio native.
“The maturity of his game, he’s an 18-year-old that plays like a 25-year-old,” Self said. “When you start out doing something early in your career doing something, everything seems to be in fast forward. With him, everything’s in slow motion, and to me, that’s a big compliment that he sees the game where it’s not sped up.”
Peterson will suit up for the first time as a ‘Hawk, along with seven other newcomers, on Oct. 24 at Louisville in an exhibition.
