Stolen car tracked to San Rafael, alleged thief found asleep inside
Early Wednesday morning, the Sausalito Police Department put out a law enforcement broadcast for a vehicle that was reported stolen. The agency said the vehicle had GPS tracking enabled and it was in the area of Louise Street in San Rafael.
San Rafael Police Department officers responded to the area following the Sausalito PD broadcast. There, they “immediately located the vehicle parked on the roadway,” police said.
In the driver’s seat was Julio Gomez-Bolanos, 28, of San Rafael, fast asleep, according to authorities. Gomez-Bolanos was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Marin County Jail for being in possession of a stolen vehicle, drug possession and committing a theft with prior convictions.
The stolen vehicle was returned to the rightful owner.
