South Charleston, W.Va. (WOWK) – One person has died after a crash that temporarily shut down a portion of Corridor G in South Charleston.
According to Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers, the call came in around 9:42 a.m. Wednesday for a crash on Corridor G, also known as US 119, near Childress Road.
The South Charleston Police Department says a vehicle traveling north went across the median and struck a southbound box truck. Police say the box truck then overturned.
According to the SCPD, both drivers were taken to the hospital. They were the sole occupants of their vehicles. The SCPD says the driver of the passenger vehicle has passed away, and the box truck driver has what officers described as “serious” injuries.
The roadway has fully reopened, but during the investigation, traffic from Corridor G South was diverted to Willow Drive and on to Childress Road to get back onto Corridor G.
The South Charleston Police Department, South Charleston Fire Department, Charleston Fire Department and EMS crews are on scene.
