BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) – The National Weather Service office in New Orleans/Baton Rouge confirmed four tornadoes touched down in the early morning hours of Oct. 6 in southeast Louisiana.

The first tornado touched down in southern Livingston Parish, southeast of Denson, just after midnight. The EF-0 tornado did minor damage to vegetation with estimated wind speeds of 80mph.

The tornado was identified using high-resolution satellite imagery. This weak tornado remained away from any structures, though a weak but conclusive tornado debris signature was visible on KHDC (Hammond) radar imagery, which aligned with intermittent minor vegetation over the marsh. Most notably, a few trees were visibly displaced on the bank of Blind River.

In Tangipahoa Parish, a tornado touched down at 3:59 a.m. near Hammond and lifted at 4:14 a.m. near Independence. This tornado produced EF-1 damage, with wind speeds around 90 mph. Along the path of the tornado, damage was done to trees, and a home lost parts of its roof at the intersection of Faller Road and Tycer Lane.

Another tornado touched down near Loranger around 5:11 a.m. and lifted at 5:21 a.m. The tornado had winds of 70 mph and produced mainly tree damage along its path.

In eastern Tangipahoa Parish, a fourth tornado touched down around 5:11 a.m. near Robert. The tornado quickly intensified to an EF-1 with wind speeds around 90 mph. This tornado snapped multiple trees and also caused roof damage to a manufactured home.
