Woman found in Woodbridge park after assault, police say

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (DC News Now) — Prince William County police are investigating after a woman was assaulted and found on the ground of a Woodbridge park on Saturday.

It all happened on Oct. 11 at Andrew Leitch Park on Dale Boulevard in Woodbridge.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, officers were dispatched to the park around 7:40 a.m. to investigate an assault.

Their investigation determined that a 47-year-old woman was at the park when an unknown person grabbed her and hit her with an object. Police noted that a family member found the woman on the ground with injuries.

The victim did not see the assailant.

Following the attack, officers and K-9 searched the area, but the suspect was not located.

The investigation is ongoing.
