Wanted man rams police cruiser, breaks into building in dangerous attempt to escape arrest
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A man was arrested Sunday evening after a dangerous attempt to evade that police say put both officers and the public at risk.
At approximately 8 p.m. on October 12, 2025, officers with the Shreveport police department attempted a traffic stop on a car driven by 27-year-old Marvaeya Anderson. Instead of stopping, Anderson fled.
Ramming a police vehicle during the pursuit, he later hopped out of his car and fled on foot, barricading himself inside an abandoned building on Pro Street.
Officers say they established a perimeter around the building and entered the building to take in Anderson, who was then arrested and taken into custody without further incident.
The situation concluded without injury to officers or civilians.
After his arrest, authorities discovered that Anderson was wanted on three felony warrants, including one for sexual assault.
A search revealed that he was in possession of approximately 300 grams of suspected methamphetamine and crack cocaine, as well as a firearm.
Investigators confirmed that Anderson was prohibited from possessing guns due to prior convictions for illegal use of a weapon and aggravated second-degree battery.
Chief Wayne Smith and the leadership of the Shreveport Police Department praised the involved officers for their professionalism and courage. “Their actions exemplify the courage it takes to wear the badge and face dangerous situations head-on.,” Smith stated.
In addition to his existing felony warrants, Anderson now faces multiple new charges, including:
